BOTM (Special): The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. Big thank you and shout out for the recommendation by Yogi Roth. First I just have to say Yogi is the most positive and genuine person I have met and you can feel this guys energy when he walks in the door. Glad I was able to chat briefly with him after the Cougar Football event.
This is the first time I’ve read a book in a day because I just couldn’t put it down. The Alchemist is about a shepherd boy trying to fulfill his Personal Legend. This is something we all have inside of us, what we want to be/do/become. Our Personal Legend is silenced by the outside noise of what other people think you should be or where the money is. We often identify success with wealth which can hinder our search for what we want to do with our lives. The Alchemist puts it perfectly and is the first “non-business” book I have reviewed. I don’t want to give too much of it away but I encourage you to follow your passions or at least try them. If you feel you are living for the weekend or at a job because it pays well, this book is for you.
Favorite quote: “There is only one thing that makes a dream impossible to achieve: the fear of failure.”
I recommend this book for anyone feeling like you are stuck in a rut, have a cause/dream/career you want to pursue or feel like you’re living for the weekend. Take the risk. You’re absolutely not alone in that journey!
